Hi-Lo Resort, Calatagan Batangas

We wanted a quick escape for the Holyweek so we planned on going to Mabungkay and experience the "balsa" again. When we were younger (which was like 20 years ago), my mom & dad would always bring us to Matabungkay to swim and they would rent a "balsa".

We left home around 9am (Good Friday). Upon reaching Matabungkay at around 11am, it was too crowded already and they are charging us 3500 for the balsa. On a regular day, they charge P1200-1500 pesos only for the wholeday rent of the balsa. We all decided to just look for another resort. A friend suggested Borat Beach in Calatagan. They said it was like boracay. hmmmm.... We stopped by a small store to buy fresh fish for grilling & bought burger from burger machine just to fill our tummies since it's almost lunch time. While waiting for our burgers, someone approached us and offered his balsa for P2,000. plus we have to pay the entrance fee in HI-LO resort for 100 each. Upon reaching Hi-Lo resort, there were no available balsa anymore. Hmmmph!

So we continued our quest to look for Borat Beach. It was a long drive going to Borat. Not to mention the rough & narrow road going to the beach. We were so disappointed when we saw Borat Beach. It was too crowded & looked like a "public" beach. No cottages and you have to line up to shower. We then decided to go back to Hi-lo resort and refund the P65 entrance fee we paid for Borat.

Finally, we arrived around 3pm in Hi-Lo Resort. We paid the entrance fee of P75 each (may patong pa si kuya na P25 hehehe)
. They have an adult & kiddie pool but they don't have a nice shoreline.

Luckily, there was an available "balsa" for P1500 only. We had to walk for 10-15 mins coz it was already lowtide. The water was clear & the sand was fine on where the "balsa" anchored.
